The Riviera Village festival is happening right now, and its a perfect weather for taking a walk and getting some lunch. Festivals are notorious for not-so-healthy and down-right bad food choices (think: funnel cakes, kettle corn, deep fried twinkies, etc…) You can find good food if you try, grilled foods are abundant, just avoid the add-ons, like fries and soda or rice and breads. Or better yet, eat healthily before you go. The food smells at a fair are so good that you may not be able to resist, so remember moderation, You still have to LIVE.

FYI: A single fried Twinkie has 420 calories and 32 grams of fat. An 8.3-ounce funnel cake has 760 calories and 44 grams of fat; an average 35-year-old woman would have to walk for three and a half hours to burn it off. You’d think that one of those massive turkey legs (even with the skin on) would be healthier than a burger, but you’re wrong: It has 1,135 calories and 35 grams of fat.
*****Calorie King suggests a few items that aren’t as bad as some of the deep-fried grotesques: a corn dog has only 250 calories and 14 grams of fat; a big cone of cotton candy is only 250 calories; a frozen chocolate-covered banana has 240 calories and 4 grams of fat; a sno-cone has roughly 100 calories per ounce of syrup; a roasted ear of corn without butter has 200 calories; and a caramel apple has 600 calories (500 for the caramel), but at least you get an apple out of it.
